Our History

Caford Castors, a family business with 80 years of knowledge and experience, was established as Caford Pty Ltd in 1944 by Mr. Clarence A. Ford. It began as an engineering-based company supplying components to the Australian Defence Department. In 1957, Mr. C.A. Ford achieved a significant milestone by inventing and manufacturing the world's first twin-wheel castor, a pioneering product that marked the beginning of Caford's long involvement with the furniture industry.

Expansion Into New Zealand

After expanding into New Zealand, former Air New Zealand aircraft engineer Robert Phillips was employed to manage the Caford Castors New Zealand business. His expertise in supply chain management and precision manufacturing made him indispensable to the company and helping customers find effective solutions.

From One Family to Another

When the Ford family decided to retire, it was only natural that Robert and the Phillips family acquired the New Zealand arm from Caford Pty Ltd. Continuing the family legacy, Caford Castors New Zealand Ltd excels in providing exceptional quality and service, and remains New Zealand's most trusted supplier of office chair components, industrial castor wheels, and twin wheel castors for which it was first known.
